Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has attributed his team’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday to their own errors. Despite taking an early lead with Andreas Christensen’s header, Barcelona conceded an equalizer from the penalty spot by Vinicius Jr.
Barcelona regained the lead with 20 minutes remaining through substitute Fermín López, only for Madrid’s Vázquez to level the score once again. Jude Bellingham’s late winner then secured victory for Real Madrid, opening an 11-point gap between the two LaLiga rivals.
Reflecting on the match, Xavi expressed pride in his team’s performance, particularly in the second half. He remarked, “We tried. We were good, but mistakes have cost us the defeat. Normally, based on how the game went, we win. We deserved the victory. We created more and defended well. We controlled the game.”
