Why We Immortalized Lamorde – Peter Dunia

A grand ceremony in Edo State celebrated the legacy of the late former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde. An ultra-modern auditorium and sports center at Ogbona Secondary School, Etsako Central Local Government Area, has been named Ibrahim Lamorde Hall.

Peter Omoh Dunia, a director at Inter-Atlas Synergy Limited and native of Ogbona, facilitated the construction of this edifice. Lamorde, who led the award-winning pipeline security firm Inter-Atlas Synergy until his passing on May 25th, 2024, was honored by the community and dignitaries alike.

The event was attended by high-profile guests, including representatives of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Deputy Governor Omobayo Godwins, and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Abubakar Momoh. The Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, and South/South Zonal Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, also graced the occasion.

Honored guests included the Lamorde family, led by Adamawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Usman Lamorde, and Dr. Suleiman Lamorde. The Inter-Atlas Synergy team was headed by CEO Femi Meshe and Executive Director Niyi Oginni. Religious leaders, led by Catholic Archbishop Gabriel Dunia of Auchi Diocese, joined captains of the oil and gas industry and top executives from the public and private sectors.

Traditional rulers from the Etsako region, led by HRM Jackson Aperelire Etokhana, expressed their appreciation for the development. In their goodwill messages, dignitaries praised Inter-Atlas Synergy Limited for their corporate responsibility and urged other companies to follow suit.

Mrs. Joan Egwuonwu, Chairperson of Ogbona Secondary School Management Board, lauded Inter-Atlas Synergy for the “ultra-modern school auditorium and outdoor sports center.” HRM Jackson Aperelire Etokhana described Peter Omoh Dunia as a “selfless personality” who has significantly contributed to the community’s development.

Chief Style Tamaranebi, President of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCON), emphasized the importance of corporate social responsibility, calling for more companies to emulate Inter-Atlas Synergy’s commitment.

Dr. Suleiman Lamorde expressed his family’s gratitude, noting that the initiative from Edo State to honor his brother confirmed Nigeria’s unity. “This development is heartwarming,” he said, acknowledging the significant support from Peter Dunia.

Femi Meshe highlighted the project’s alignment with Inter-Atlas Synergy’s mission to improve community life, emphasizing the importance of corporate contributions to the Niger Delta region. “We believe this facility will enhance both educational and civic activities in Ogbona and beyond,” he stated.

In his emotional tribute, Peter Omoh Dunia remembered Lamorde as a dedicated and philanthropic leader. “His legacy of service to community and country will live on through this project,” Dunia said.

The ceremony featured cultural displays from various Etsako groups and concluded with the formal inauguration of the facilities by Archbishop Dunia and the Minister’s representative, Engineer Okodugha Dauda Aluyah.
