Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, has expressed his deep condolences over the passing of HRM Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland.
In a statement obtained by newsheadline247, Senator Daniel said he was “shocked” by the news of the monarch’s death. As the Asoju Oba of Ijeshaland, he described the late Oba as a significant figure and custodian of Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
Daniel extended his sympathies to the people of Ijeshaland, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the entire state. He highlighted the immense loss the country and Yoruba land have suffered due to the monarch’s passing after a 40-year reign.
His statement read: “I received the heartbreaking news of the passing of HRM Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, who has now joined his ancestors.
“This is a personal shock, especially as the Asoju Oba of Ijeshaland. I know how deeply Nigeria and Yoruba land will feel this loss at such a time.
“The country has lost a refined personality and a custodian of our rich history and culture, who served 40 remarkable years on the throne.
“My heartfelt condolences to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the people of Osun State, Kabiyesi’s family, and the entire Ijeshaland.”
