Video: Tinubu pressuring me to be minister, I didn’t want to be in his cabinet – El-Rufai

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he did not make a special request to be made a minister in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The APC chieftain stated this while granting interview to pressmen, as he claimed that Tinubu had been the one pressuring him to work with his administration.

He said that he had met the president 10 times and told him during each meeting that he is not interested in any government job.

El-Rufai, who spoke in Hausa language said he is too big for someone to be his godfather and stressed that he had repeatedly rejected the ministerial job.

“I met with Bola Ahmed Tinubu over ten times and told him that I do not want any government job. I do not want to work with him. He is the one pressuring me to work with him.

“I have been the one rejecting the offer to work with him. Wallahi tallahi billahi, I am too big for someone to be my godfather,” El-Rufai said in Hausa.

CorrectNG reported months ago that Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi said the incessant strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will end if he becomes president.

He stated this in Jalingo, Taraba noting that so far, ASUU has embarked on no fewer than 50 months industrial action since 1999. Obi said he will ensure that paralysis of academic activities would be a thing of the past if given the mandate to lead Nigeria.

According to the former governor of Anambra, his government would dialogue with ASUU leadership to ensure that universities stay open during academic years.

The LP candidate said; “The 50 months ASUU strike in Nigeria is a setback for both the development of Nigeria and its educational system.

“What Datti and I want to do for Nigeria is to ensure that we move from consumption to production and there would be no more ASUU strike.”

He also vowed to make Taraba an economic hub and tourist attraction through the numerous untapped natural resources.

“The untapped mineral resources here and the Mambilla hydro is enough to transform the economy of the country and create job opportunities for Nigerian youths”, he said.
