Ukranian President Reacts To Trump’s Impeachment

Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has described the impeachment of United States President, Donald Trump, as an “internal issue” of the American people.

On Wednesday, Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives for abuse of power in his relations with Ukraine.

In a statement, the Ukrainian president’s spokesperson, Yuliya Mendel, said, “Ukraine does not interfere in the internal affairs of any state.

“The United States remains a strategic partner for us, and we are pleased to strengthen our relations by expanding cooperation in various fields,” she said.

The Ukrainian president was, in the conversation between himself and Trump, pressured to carry an investigation into Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden over their alleged illegal dealings with Ukraine.

Although Ukraine is in the middle of the impeachment, it has sought to keep a neutral distance from the drama, ensuring that the country maintains its bipartisan backing from the US, as it faces its own conflict with neighboring Russia.

Zelensky had denied any involvement with Trump, denying any allegations of a quid pro quo with the US president when Ukraine was denied military aid until it had carried through with the demands of Trump: to investigate Biden’s case.

Trump is expected to stand trial in the Senate next year.
