A tradtional ruler called Chief Hyacinth Ajon and a man called Benjamin Anakula have been murdered by suspected gunmen supposed to be Fulani militias in Benue State.

According to reports from residents, the traditional ruler and Benjamin were killed in the early hours of Wednesday, April 21 in Tse Zoola community, Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.

Aho Zoola, the eldest man in the community told newsmen that the village was attacked unexpectedly by the suspected Fulani gunmen at 2am. They shot periodically and killed the Chief and Benjamin.

Elder Aho said the villagers have no brawl or any issue with the herdsmen even when their herds graze on their crops. He made this statement when Governor Samuel Ortom asked whether they had rustled the Fulani herds sometime ago.

In reaction, Governor Ortom sympathized with the displaced villages and promised to safeguard their village by setting up security agencies in the area.
