Supreme Court verdict: “Fight has just begun” – Ex-minister, Oby Ezekwesili

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has declared that the fight has just begun following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of the election of Bola Tinubu as president.

The Apex court had dismissed the petitions by Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar that appealed the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Ezekwesili, in a statement via Twitter (X), said the fight is for a good society and it continues until the people say it is over.

She wrote; “The fight for a Good Society has only now started and we know that nothing can defeat a People who have had enough of the invasive Cancer of Corruption and Criminality.

“Read the story of the 70s Hong Kong to learn that in the quest for a Good Society, ‘it is never over until a people say it is over’.”

It was reported earlier that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended hand of fellowship to the People’s Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, following his victory at the Supreme Court.

In a statement on Thursday, titled: ‘It is time for us to build our great nation together’, Tinubu called on both political counterparts to collaborate with him in building Nigeria and moving the country forward.

The president, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress, said the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold his victory has further energised and strengthened his commitment to serve Nigerians of all political persuasions, tribes and faiths with honour and total respect.
