Chiamaka Nnadozie has made history as the first African, specifically Nigerian, to secure the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) award for the top goalkeeper in the French women’s league.
Nnadozie earned this honor for her outstanding performances with Paris FC throughout the 2023/24 season, surpassing competitors such as Christiane Endler from Olympic Lyon, Katarzyna Kiedrzynek of Paris SG, FC Fleury’s Chloe N’Gazi, and Kinga Szemik of Stade de Reims.
At just 23 years old, Nnadozie’s recent accolades include being named the best goalkeeper in the French D1 Arkema (women’s league) last month. Her remarkable ability to save penalties has solidified her reputation as one of the world’s premier goalkeepers, having thwarted seven penalties this season, the highest tally by any goalkeeper in Europe.
