Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi has clarified his decision to opt for the West African giants over England for senior-level international football.
Iwobi, formerly of Arsenal, progressed through the ranks of the Arsenal youth team and represented England at the U16, U17, and U18 levels before committing to Nigeria.
Making his competitive debut against Egypt in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on March 25, 2016, Iwobi’s choice stemmed from his Nigerian heritage, despite receiving positive treatment from the English Football Association.
