Singer, Nonso Bassey, Narrates How He Has Severally Been Harassed And Abused By Lagos Police Officers

Singer, Nonso Bassey, has shared his abusive encounters with police officers in Lagos.

According to him, he has had three encounters with the police where he has been abused all three times. He said, he has been harassed, handcuffed, and abused, and all “for nothing.”

Nonso shared that, the first two times he had the encounter with the police, he was arrested off the streets and taken to a police dungeon, and threatened that, nobody was ever going to find him.

He went on to narrate another incident with the police, which is believed to have been a recent one, and he shared that, they hit him, dragged and abused his sister, who was with him at the time, before pushing them into their car, which had tinted windows.

He said, the police then took their phones and went through them.

The singer, therefore, went on to question if these are the people who are supposed to protecting citizens.

He shared the incidents in a tweet and tagged Nigeria police and CRU, who has since responded to the tweet, and said they are investigating the matter.

Their Sienna windows were tinted, the number plates were blurry, the only one of them in uniform never came out from the car.
They hit me, dragged & abused my sister, pushed us into their car & went through our phones.
ARE THESE THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE PROTECTING US?@PoliceNG
