Seun Kuti claims Damian Marley ‘stole’ his weed

Famous Nigerian singer and songwriter, Seun Kuti, had alleged that Jamaican reggae star, Damian Marley, stole his weed.

The Afrobeats star made the claim during a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos while recounting his first meeting with the Jamaican.

Seun, who is the son of Fela Kuti, said he first met Damian, who the son of Bob Marley at a festival in France and it was during their encounter that the theft occurred.

The ‘Last Revolutionary’ singer said he gave the Reggaeton artiste the weed to smoke and pass back to him but he took ownership of the blunt after lighting it.

Seun Kuti said; “Damian Marley and I first met at a festival in South France. It was at the beginning of my career. He also had just released his sophomore breakthrough album, ‘Welcome To Jamrock’.

“We played the show together. He stole my weed. He scammed me. He said we should share it. After rolling it, I gave it to him because he insisted he would light it but after lighting it, he chanced me. I asked him to pass it back but he said he doesn’t want to share anymore”.

Also speaking on their recent collaboration, he explained that he sent all the songs from his upcoming album and he chose to jump on ‘Dey’ which eventually became the lead single.
