Rapper Kanye West sued for reportedly discriminating against his black staff

Kanye West is mired in a new legal controversy, when a former employee filed a lawsuit accusing him of discriminatory behavior against black Donda Academy members.

Benjamin Deshon Provo, a security guard at the academy since 2021, claims that Kanye West often belittled and abused black personnel, eventually firing him for refusing to shave his dreadlocks.

According to the Los Angeles lawsuit, West’s activities, including demands that staff members shave their heads, caused Provo substantial emotional distress. Provo refused to comply with the request owing of his Muslim faith.

The lawsuit also claims that white employees received a $5 per hour salary increase, while black employees did not.

Donda Academy’s culture curriculum includes texts about significant figures such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

Provo is seeking compensation for alleged discrimination, a hostile work environment, retaliation, labour law violations, and other complaints.

A few months ago, an autograph seeker sued Kanye West for abuse and battery.

According to TMZ, the autograph seeker indicated that the incident took place in downtown Los Angeles in 2022.

The victim claimed he asked the artist for an apology, to which he replied, “Apology for what?” before allegedly striking him multiple times and gravely injuring him.

He stated that when one of the people that accompanied Kanye tried to stop the attack, he yelled, “Go to the fucking house and get my fucking kids.”

He analysed how Kanye punched him in the face after yelling “I’m going to make a fucking example of you.”

The man is seeking damages, claiming that the assault caused him serious distress.

His wife claims she lost her husband’s business as a result of the incident, and she is suing Kanye West for loss of consortium.
