Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged extortion of motorist who contravened traffic laws by police officers in the Kubwa area of the FCT on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday by FCT Police Command Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu was quoted as saying: “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to reports circulating on social media alleging the extortion of a motorist who contravened traffic laws by police officers in the Kubwa area of the FCT on Saturday, November 16, 2024. In response to these allegations, the command has taken swift action by promptly identifying and inviting the officers seen in the video for questioning.
“An investigation into the matter is currently underway to determine the facts of the case. The command urges the complainant to come forward and provide further substantiation of her claims.
“The FCT Police Command remains committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability within its ranks. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity and will continue to hold any errant officers accountable for their actions.”
