Police arrest Rivers traditional ruler for threatening retired judge

The Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, have arrested and detained the Eze Risi Ohia-Emeri Abali of Rebisi, His Royal Highness, Eze Cyprian Amadi-Worenwu, for allegedly threatening the lives of retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli and his family members.

Eze Amadi-Worenwu is accused of threatening Enebeli’s life for delivering a judgment against him on March 28, 2023 while in service, in a case involving traditional chieftaincy.

Daily Post reports that the retired Justice petitioned the state Commissioner of Police, claiming that the monarch, aggrieved by the judgment, resorted to threatening to kill him, his children, and his staff instead of exercising his constitutional right to appeal the judgment.

In the petition, retired Justice Enebeli urged the police to intervene urgently before Eze Amadi-Worenwu carried out his threats. The accused allegedly avoided honouring the police invitations but was eventually apprehended by officers.

CorrectNG recalls that the Department of State Security, DSS, arrested a 23-year-old lady, Fildausi Ahamadu, last October for allegedly threatening to engage in suicide bombing and kill all those “responsible for the tribunal victory of the All Progressives Congress, governorship candidate in Kano, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.”

In a video that went viral on social media, the lady claimed to be fighting for Governor Abba Yusuf Kabir of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, who later reclaimed his mandate at the Supreme Court.

Fildausi was overheard in Hausa warning that anywhere she sees the lead judge in the state governorship elections tribunal, she won’t mind holding her with a bomb.

In the same vein, she warned APC’s Gawuna, saying; “You dare not indicate your location, otherwise, I don’t mind striking you with a bomb vest to commit svicide.”
