PDP, APC Trade Words Over Alleged Plans To Rig Ondo Election

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to compromise the process.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the PDP alleged that Ade Adetimehin, the APC state chairman, submitted lists of party members to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to serve as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers.

PDP spokesperson, Kennedy Peretei said the party discovered the alleged plot after INEC’s training for the officers.

The PDP further accused the APC of trying to compromise the election after failing to deliver promised benefits to the people of Ondo.

In response, the APC denied the allegations.

Spokesperson of the ruling party, Alex Kalejaiye rejected claims of election manipulation, asserting that the APC had campaigned hard to earn the support of Ondo residents.

“We have no reason to compromise the election. We have worked for the people and have implemented projects across the 18 local government areas,” Kalejaiye said.

He dismissed the accusations as fabrications, emphasizing that the APC’s focus was on campaigning, not underhanded tactics.
