Our Higher Institutions In Need Of Reforms – Gbajabiamila

Published

on

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that the nation’s higher institutions are “severely and dangerously lacking in capabilities needed to build a nation.”

The speaker said this in Osogbo at the First Tunde Ponnle Annual Lecture with the theme, ‘Building a Tertiary Truly 21st Century University: Task Beyond Government,’ at the Osun State University.

He made note of the declination in the quality of academic quality and the piss-poor calibre of graduates churned out yearly from the tertiary institutions, signalling the degradation of Nigerian higher institutions.

He, however, said that for things to improve, the curriculums and teaching practices should see a radical change, as that will position Nigerian graduates from tertiary institutions as global competitors in the labour market.
