Nigerian lady discovers her landlord has been stealing from her apartment in Canada

A Nigerian woman, Esther Ijewere has shared a shocking story of how her Canada-based friend caught her landlord and his staff stealing from her house.

She said the friend had been observing that things in her apartment in Toronto were going missing for some years and she was baffled, so she set up a hidden camera.

However, when the tenant watched the footage, she saw that it was her landlord and one of his workers that were sneaking in to steal her clothes, gold chains and other items.

Esther narrated; “My friend said she’s been noticing things missing in her Toronto apartment, and then she set a hidden camera to know who comes in when she is not around. Turns out it’s the landlord & his staff. From gold chain to her clothing, they’ve been stealing from her for years. Wild.”

A 17-year-old boy identified as Ayomiposi Esan has been apprehended after stealing three mobile phones, two generator sets, a sound system and a Toyota Corolla car belonging to his parents.

The boy ran away with the family’s properties after locking his parents identified as Mr Oluwafemi and Mrs Tosin inside the house in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

A source said it took a joint effort of other residents to free the parents from the apartment after their son fled the scene with the stolen items.

Following their release from their home by neighbours, the victims reported the matter to the Ogijo Divisional Police Station. A Superintendent of Police, Awode Olatunde led his men in hot pursuit of the suspect, which resulted his arrest in Lagos while he (Ayomiposi) was looking for buyers for the stolen items.

The source said; “The boy had successfully sold one generator set he stole. The father is preventing the police from prosecuting the son after his arrest. The police wanted the boy to be prosecuted for his action, but the parents said they wanted him to be released along with the stolen items.”

State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and said the force intended to prosecute the boy but could not do so since the parents had opposed it.
