Nigerian superstar singer, David Adeleke also known as Davido, has said his success in the music industry is not because of his father’s wealth as some may believe.
He made the statement while fielding questions on American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ explaining that there are people from wealthier backgrounds than him who have failed to succeed.
According to the Omo Baba Olowo, many of them have attempted to create a niche for themselves in the entertainment industry but weren’t as successful as he is.
Davido said his biggest challenge in his early days as an artiste was the fact that his father was wealthy, but he eventually got accepted.
He boasted about being accepted because he is talented and good at what he does, noting that he doubts the people would have accepted him if he was not good.
Davido said; “There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… And there are people [billionaire’s children] who have tried to do what I have tried to do: music, entertainment, business. But mine has been successful because of my values.
“The biggest challenge I had when I started music was that my father is wealthy. But I got accepted for one reason and that reason is that I am good, talented. I don’t think I would have ever been accepted if I wasn’t good at what I do.”
