Liverpool have taken a significant stride towards appointing Arne Slot as their manager.

Liverpool have initiated discussions with Feyenoord regarding the potential appointment of Arne Slot as their manager, as per multiple reports.

According to 90min’s report on Tuesday, Slot has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.

While other clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on Slot, credible sources indicate that Liverpool are actively engaging in negotiations with Feyenoord to explore his release.

Despite Liverpool previously considering Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim, Slot has emerged as the primary candidate to take over from Klopp.

Liverpool’s managerial transition timeline revolves around the recent appointments of Michael Edwards as FSG’s CEO of Football and Richard Hughes as sporting director from Bournemouth. They aimed to finalize candidate evaluations and interviews in April before progressing to formal negotiations.

Slot has been at the helm of Feyenoord for three seasons, achieving notable success in Rotterdam. Under his guidance, Feyenoord reached the Europa Conference League final in 2021/22 and clinched the Dutch Eredivisie title last season. Their recent triumph in the Dutch Cup further underscores Slot’s managerial prowess.

Reports suggest that Liverpool’s interest in Slot surfaced publicly only now as a gesture of respect towards Slot and Feyenoord’s pursuit of silverware, notably their recent Dutch Cup victory against NEC Nijmegen.

Tottenham Hotspur had expressed interest in Slot last year before he extended his contract with Feyenoord, ultimately appointing Ange Postecoglou instead.
