Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known by his stage name, Don Jazzy, has dished some advice on how to handle critics.
The music executive urged the public not to be bothered by criticisms when they attain their goals, stressing that when they were struggling critics didn’t care about them.
Don Jazzy who shared his two cents through Twitter on Saturday, May 18, emphasised that paying attention to critics is a form of distraction.
He wrote: “Nobody gives a fxck about you when you are suffering and grinding. If you give a fxck about what people think about you when you make it, then you didn’t learn shit in the come-up and will be back suffering in no time.
“Worrying about what people think about you in your grinding phase and your made phase is a distraction.”
This is coming a few weeks after Afrobeats superstar, Ayodeji Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, threw a shade at Don Jazzy following a comment from his signee, Ladipoe.
The rapper Ladipoe, who is signed to Don Jazzy’s record label, had taken to his Twitter account to revisit Wizkid’s controversial “Hip Hop is dead” statement and shaded him for saying he is not an Afrobeats artiste.
Ladipoe wrote; “Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own”.
A fan @miracledc12 called Wizkid’s attention to the shade on Monday morning but the Starboy boss rubbished both Jazzy and Ladipoe in a single tweet.
Responding, the Grammy winner said he will never chat with the rapper because he is signed to a music label (Mavin Records) which is run by an influencer.
“lol never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next,” the Starboy Entertainment founder tweeted on April 29.
Though Big Wiz did not mention Don Jazzy, he gave a hint by retweeting some posts which suggested that he was referring to Jazzy as a social media influencer.
