The Forum of Women in Film and TV in Nigeria (FWIFT Nigeria) has announced plans for the 2024 Women in Film and TV Conference, set for September 18, 2024, at the Africa Creative Market, Landmark Events Center, Victoria Island, Lagos. The conference aims to bring together leading women in film and television across Africa to shape the future of storytelling, amplify female perspectives, and launch groundbreaking collaborative projects to boost the global presence and impact of African narratives.
The event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Honorable Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa (Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy in Nigeria), Alison Richards (Managing Director, Noni Movies), Joke Silva (President, Forum for Women in Film and TV Nigeria), Fatou Jupiter (President, Women in Film and Television, Senegal), Ego Boyo (Managing Director, Temple Productions and Temple Media), and Mildred Okwo (Nigerian film director), among others.
Nollywood icon, founder, and President of FWIFT Nigeria, Joke Silva (MFR), highlighted the importance of the conference, stating, “This event is dedicated to building a legacy of empowered African women in film and television. It offers a unique opportunity to inspire and uplift the next generation of storytellers by sharing experiences and fostering a culture of mutual support. Our mission is to shape not only the present but also to construct a future where every woman’s voice is heard, celebrated, and valued.”
Dr. Inya Lawal, Convener of Africa Creative Market, echoed this sentiment, adding, “The conference aligns perfectly with our mission to empower African creatives and provide a global platform for their voices. We believe this event will be a catalyst for change, driving collaboration and innovation within the industry.”
