JUST IN: 11-Year-Old Girl Dies Moment Mosque Collapses At Papa Ajao Area Of Lagos [PHOTOS]—-Many worshippers have been feared dead as a mosque collapsed during prayers in Lagos State.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday during Suhr (afternoon) prayer in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State.
The number of casualties is not ascertained, but a corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered by emergency responder
While some people escaped from the incident, others, who were unlucky, got trapped under the rubble.
Alarmed by the development, people, while attempting to rescue some of the trapped victims, informed emergency responders, including the police who stormed the premises to commence the rescue operation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident while responding to inquiries about the rescue operation at the scene of the tragedy.
He said, “The rescue operation is ongoing but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”
