According to a report, Jordan Henderson has returned to Liverpool for training as part of his recovery process from a recent injury. The midfielder, who is currently with Dutch club Ajax, sustained a muscle injury and has been sidelined for their last four matches, including a notable 6-0 loss to Feyenoord.
As he gears up for the Eredivisie’s final stretch, there’s a possibility he could still join England for Euro 2024. The Daily Mail states that Henderson has been undergoing personalized fitness sessions at his former club, Liverpool.
Henderson enjoyed a 12-year spell at Liverpool, joining from Sunderland in 2011. During his tenure, he made 492 appearances, scored 33 goals, and won eight trophies. Following Steven Gerrard’s departure in 2015, Henderson took on the captaincy of the men’s first team.
Although there were speculations about a potential reunion with Liverpool before his move to Ajax, manager Jurgen Klopp promptly dismissed such rumors during the January transfer window.
Regarding Henderson’s abrupt departure from Saudi Arabia, reports suggest he could miss out on significant earnings, estimated at up to £67.73m.
Currently, Henderson’s Ajax sits fifth in the Eredivisie standings, trailing league leaders PSV Eindhoven by a considerable 33-point margin.
