Award-winning Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has hinted that he is shifting his focus away from Africa, to the American market in terms of the music business.
The record label founder who noted that he has conquered Africa, revealed that his new goal is to collaborate with creatives across the globe.
Davido said he’s lived the African dream and now wants to get the American dream where he can influence international artistes.
The Atlanta born musician spoke about his plans during a chat with Billboard, and explained that he he is currently working on two albums for Africa and America, respectively.
Davido said; “I want to drop this album by the grace of God. Hopefully, we get to hit No. 1. I just want to share great ideas and great music with other artists, influence other artistes, write and produce for other people. Just getting to the dream. I’ve lived the African dream, now I’m trying to get to the American dream.”
Speaking on his relationship with American artistes, Davido said he relates better with those from Atlanta, being that it is where he was born.
He also revealed that he knew rapper, Gunna before he became a big entertainer and he’s also been interacting with Hip Hop star, Young Thug.
Davido said; “I think I connect with Atlanta artistes, especially having lived there for about four, five years there. I currently have a house in Atlanta, so when it comes to the American culture, I learned most of it in the South. So I think I relate better with Atlanta artistes, being around [Young] Thug and being around people. Like, I been knew Gunna even before either he or I popped off.”
