Here Are The 12 Players Of African Descent Among FIFA 19's Top 100

It’s exactly 14 days until the release of FIFA 19 on September 28. To whet our appetite, EA Sports has unveiled the top 100 hundred rankings of the football stars in the game, and we are highlighting the players of African descent who made the cut.

N’Golo Kanté

Kanté, whose parents are from Mali, is ranked at number 16. That solid position in the top 20 comes with an overall rating of 89 for the France player. As a defensive midfielder, Kanté’s performance in defense in pegged at 87.

Mohamed Salah

Salah may not have had a good World Cup outing but he’s ranked at number 27 in the game, thanks to his Premier League exploits. He has an overall rating of 88, but his strength in the game is in his pace which is rated 92.

Kylian Mbappé

Mbappé’s father is Cameroonian and his mother Algerian. In other words, he’s African before he’s French. Ranked at number 42, the France player has an overall rating of 87. While his pace rating of 96 is awesome, it’s important to note that the forward’s rating in shooting is 81.

Samuel Umtiti

Born in Cameroon, Umtiti plays for France and ranks at number 47. Just like Mbappé, he has an overall rating of 87. But his ratings in specific areas aren’t as good Mbappé’s. As a centre-back, he has a high rating of 88 in defence.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

We’re surprised that instead of being among the top 30, Aubameyang is ranked at number 51. Whatever the case, the Gabonese player has an impressive overall rating of 87. While the forward’s ability to shoot is rated 84, his pace is 94. Super!

Kalidou Koulibaly

Koulibaly has been a strong defender for Senegal and his club, Napoli for a while. Ranked at number 55, his overall rating stands at 87 and, at 88, his defence game is nothing short of fantastic.

Sadio Mané

After Salah, the second footballer you just don’t want to exclude while selecting Liverpool players on FIFA 19 is Mané. The Senegalese is ranked 60, with considerable pace and shooting abilities that stand at 94 and 80 respectively.

Jérôme Boateng

Boateng, who has Ghanaian roots, is ranked at 68 with an overall rating of 86. The German player’s strength is in the defence, so that gives him 85 as his rating in that area.

Medhi Benatia

Benatia is ranked at 78 with an overall rating of 86. His position might not inspire you to select him for shooting and passing, but his defence and physical abilities are top-notch. They’re rated 87 and 85 respectively.

David Alaba

Ranked at 85, 26-year-old Alaba has an overall rating of 85. While it’s hard to miss his versatility on the pitch, he performs better as a left-back. So, we’re not surprised that his pace is rated 82 and his defence, 81.

Blaise Matuidi

Matuidi completes the Afro-French squad on the rankings. Ranked at 96, he’s one of the footballers with an overall rating of 85 in the game. But his strength is in defence and physical in which he’s rated 83.

Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez occupies the 99th position on the rankings. His overall rating is 85 but it’ll be a huge mistake to use him in your defence. His strength as a winger lies in passing and he has a fair rating of 81 in that.
