Manchester City star, Erling Haaland has been announced as the winner of UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
The Norway striker was named as the winner of the prize ahead of teammate Kevin De Bruyne and Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi at the draw for the Champions League group stages.
Haaland makes it two awards this week. He won the PFA Player of the Year earlier in the week and now wins this after a sublime first season in England. Also, Aitana Bonmati won the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.

The Premier League made the announcement on Saturday, May 27, 2023 through its official Twitter account.
“It had to be him! @ErlingHaaland is your @EASPORTSFIFA Player of the Season,” the tweet read.
The Norwegian was voted Player of the Season by the public, the captains of the 20 Premier League clubs and a panel of soccer experts.
Haaland saw off competition from De Bruyne, Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier.
