Guinness World Record: Music star, Adekunle Gold turns up for chess master, Tunde Onakoya in New York

Afropop singer-songwriter, Adekunle Kosoko professionally known as Adekunle Gold has turned up in New York to drum support for Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya, who is on a chess marathon.

Tunde commenced his mission to break the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon at Times Square in New York, on Wednesday, April 17, by aiming to play chess with different people for 58 hours.

Adekunle Gold entertained spectators momentarily when he visited the venue on Wednesday and made donations to assist in the live streaming of the event.

The musician was standing and decided to give Onakoya some words of encouragement as the chess champion maintained his focus on the game with his opponent.

CorrectNG reported earlier that Davido flew to New York, United States of America to support his countryman, Tunde Onakoya, a chess master seeking to surpass the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.

Davido, who recently sold out the iconic New York’s Madison Square Garden, graced showed at the event to provide some moral support for the brilliant young man.

In videos making the rounds on social media, the Grammy nominated musician and the chess master, who was excited could be seen exchnging pleasantries.

A group of drummers were also beating drums and singing victory songs to encourage Tunde on is mission. Davido eventually left but not before telling him some motivating words.

Onakoya’s chess marathon is scheduled to end today, April 19, and if he is able to complete it by beating every opponent and without stopping, then he would have broken a record.

The Nigerian chess champion has emerged triumphant in all encounters so far, including his match with New York’s National Chess Master, Shawn Martinez.
