Governor Sani Announces New Three Military Operating Bases In Southern Kaduna, Other Areas

Governor Uba Sani announces the establishment of three new military forward operating bases in Southern Kaduna, Giwa, and Birnin-Gwari to combat banditry and enhance security for local farmers.

This strategic move aims to secure Kaduna and support agricultural activities in the region.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has revealed plans for the military to set up three new forward operating bases in Southern Kaduna, Giwa, and Birnin-Gwari Local Government Areas.

This initiative is a strategic effort to address the persistent issues of banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats in the region.

During a meeting with the Kaduna Elders Forum at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Governor Sani emphasised the importance of bolstering security in frontline areas. “In recent months, we’ve intensified our efforts to secure Kaduna by collaborating with relevant security agencies,” stated the governor.

The deployment of additional military personnel is expected to significantly improve security, enabling farmers to access their lands without fear.

Governor Sani expressed gratitude towards the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for his support, alongside other service chiefs. “Kaduna State has benefitted from military interventions, and we are grateful for their assistance,” he added.

The planned establishment of forward operating bases in Southern Kaduna, Giwa, and Birnin-Gwari is part of a comprehensive security strategy.

“We have concluded arrangements with the military for these bases,” Governor Sani announced. These bases are anticipated to be operational in the coming weeks.

The governor reiterated the need for a robust military presence to maintain security and support agricultural activities.

In addition to the new bases, the Chief of the Air Staff has agreed to set up a base in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area.

This initiative aims to further enhance security across the state. Governor Sani highlighted the distribution of 150 patrol vehicles to various security agencies, including the Army, Airforce, DSS, Police, Civil Defence, Customs, and Immigration.

The National Security Advisor’s office also received support.

Governor Sani disclosed that his administration has provided over 60,000 smallholder farmers with essential farming implements.

This support is intended to boost agricultural productivity and combat poverty and unemployment in the state. “Our engagement with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and NGOs aims to improve intelligence gathering and sharing,” the governor explained. These efforts are crucial for assisting security agencies in their operations.
