FG suspends students over bullying incident in Enugu

The federal government, FG, has suspended 13 students of Federal Government College, FGC Enugu, over a bullying incident in the school.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, disclosed this in a statement, while raising significant concerns about safety and discipline within the school environment.

In the statement tagged, FG suspends students bullying,” he condemned the incident, stressing the need for a safe learning environment for students.

He disclosed that the School-Based Management Committee, SBMC, has been directed to collaborate with security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, including possible affiliations with external groups.

Alausa stated that immediate measures have been implemented to enhance security at the college by engaging law enforcement and reviewing existing safety protocols.

The Minister further disclosed that based on the findings, the federal government has suspended all 13 students involved in the bullying incident for a six-week period pending the report of the investigative committee.

He added that as the FG suspends students bullying others, it will serve as a deterrent to other students.
