Sani Yerima, an ex-governor of Zamfara and Presidential hopeful, has strongly defended his decision to marry a 13-year-old girl during a recent appearance on Channels TV on Tuesday, May 10.

The marriage, which took place in 2009, drew widespread criticism, although the lawmaker says he did not break any laws.

“If I had done anything wrong, I would have been tried in court. NAPTIP wanted to try the case and they dropped the matter because I didn’t do anything wrong,”

He continued; “there is no law in Nigeria that determines when and how you get married. Muslims have Sharia, the Christians I don’t know what their doctrines say.”

From May 1999 to May 2007, Ahmed Rufai Sani Yerima served as Governor of Zamfara State in Nigeria, as well as Senator for Zamfara West and Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate. He belongs to the APC (All Progressives Congress).

In other news, a Nigerian lady known as Juliet Ushie has taken to social media to rejoice following a terrifying and life-threatening encounter she had in the night.

Juliet Ushie disclosed on Facebook that vigilantes saw this huge python crawling into her fence last night.

She said that just a few minutes before that, she and her son wanted to go out but they changed their mind and she wondered what would have happened if they did.

Julie Ushie who shared a video of the python on her lawn said she was too frightened to talk in the video and urged her followers and friends to join her in thanking God for saving her life.
