Drama As Bayero’s Chief Of Staff Defects To Emir Sanusi Camp—-The political horse trading in the emirship tussle in Kano State has taken a different dimension as Ahmed Ado Bayero, the chief of staff to the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has reportedly abandoned the former emir and paid allegiance to Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
According to Daily Nigerian, Bayero, who is also the district head of Kumbotso, paid his allegiance at the Emir’s Palace, Gidan Rumfa on Wednesday.
The medium citing a video footage report that the former chief of staff, who is a younger brother to the deposed monarch, was was seen genuflecting before Mr Sanusi to pay his allegiance.
Newsband reported that Mr Sanusi was appointed the 16th emir of Kano by governor Abba Yusuf in May, following the repealing of the Kano Emirates Law of 2019, which abolished all the five emirates created by the former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje who is now the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
Though, the deposed emir has challenged his abrupt removal in court and also refused to vacate the Nassarawa royal residence, which he has been occupying after his dethronement.
On July 15, a Kano State High Court issued an injunction restraining him from parading himself as the Emir of Kano.
The court, presided over by Justice Amina Aliyu, also barred four other deposed monarchs from parading themselves as Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Karaye, and Gaya.
The state high court further issued a Form 48, which is a notice of consequence of disobedience of court order and liability to imprisonment, to Mr Bayero and the Inspector General of Police.
But despite the judgement, Mr Bayero has continued to perform royal duties within and outside the royal residence.
