Top Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu also known as Burna Boy, has spoken against the planned military intervention in Niger Republic following a coup.
The Grammy award-winning urged Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu to concentrate on addressing the fuel crisis in Nigeria caused by his abrupt removal of subsidy.
Speaking through his aide, King Manny’s Instagram live session, Burna Boy said Nigeria should not be thinking of going to war when there is fuel scarcity.
He also explained how the lack of fuel can pose a challenge to the military if they are eventually deployed.
Burna said; “Wettin dey sub na? Dem say na War we wan enter like this o [laughs]. Fuel never dey you wan go fight war.
“How you wan reach the battlefield? You go use…. Wettin dem dey use that generator now do? Gas generator. E shock me. Wahala no dey ever tire Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, this comes amid Tinubu’s vow to spend his time in office working to ensure that the quality of life improves in line with his Renewed Hope agenda.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday, the president made the vow after inaugurating the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, chaired by Taiwo Oyedele.
The president also expressed his commitment to stopping Nigeria’s overreliance on borrowing for public spending and the resulting burden of debt servicing it places on the management of Nigeria’s limited revenues.
He charged the economic Committee to improve the country’s revenue profile and business environment as the Federal Government moves to achieve an 18% Tax-to-GDP ratio within three years.
Tinubu directed the Committee to achieve its one-year mandate, which is divided into three main areas: fiscal governance, tax reforms, and growth facilitation.
He said; “We cannot blame the people for expecting much from us. To whom much is given, much is expected. It is even more so when we campaigned on a promise of a better country anchored on our Renewed Hope Agenda.
I have committed myself to use every minute I spend in this office to work to improve the quality of life of our people. We aim to transform the tax system to support sustainable development while achieving a minimum of 18% tax-to-GDP ratio within the next three years. Without revenue, the government cannot provide adequate social services to the people it is entrusted to serve.
“The Committee, in the first instance, is expected to deliver a schedule of quick reforms that can be implemented within thirty days. Critical reform measures should be recommended within six months, and full implementation will occur within one calendar year.”
