West Ham United set to appoint Julen Lopetegui
The news surrounding Lopetegui as the new manager at the London Stadium will certainly be met with a mixed reaction, with some fans fearing the worst about his appointment.
Understandably, West Ham fans are wary about who replaces Moyes as manager, with the Scot coming under heavy pressure this season due to his defensive style of play and poor results.
While a lot of fans are keen for the current manager to be gone, they are also aware of the criticism that Manuel Pellegrini received when replacing Moyes during his first spell in charge.
This is proof that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Considering that West Ham have also been linked with Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim, who has just lifted the league title in Portugal, some are sceptical of Lopetegui.
However, the Spaniard has previous experience in the top tier of English football, having impressed with his style of football over at the Molineux Stadium and will look to implement something similar in London.
Whatever happens this summer, Moyes deserves the utmost respect for what he has achieved with the Hammers, helping them to lift the club’s first European trophy in decades and compete regularly in Europe.
