The Record Breaking NIA DG Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has stepped down from Tinubu’s Government
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Ahmed Abubakar, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has resigned his appointment by submitting his letter to President Bola Tinubu.
He submitted his letter to Tinubu at the State House, Abuja on Saturday.
Abubakar told State House correspondents after meeting with Tinubu that he had tendered his resignation letter.
He said it was a routine thing, from time to time, to brief the President on situations, on issues, and that today was no exception.
According to him, “After the briefing, I tendered my resignation, and Mr. President graciously approved and accepted the resignation.”
Abubakar thanked the president for allowing him to serve Nigeria under his transformational leadership for an extended period of 15 months, which he said was very rare.
He did not, however, gave reasons for his resignation.
Abubakar was first appointed DG of NIA on 10 January, 2018 by former President Muhammadu Buhari and renewed in 2021.
