Nicolas Jackson has been deeply criticised by Mikel Obi after loosing clear chances against Manchester City.
Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel didn’t hold back on Nicolas Jackson as he gave an honest assessment on his poor performance in the 2-0 defeat against Manchester City.
The Blues found themselves 1-0 down in their opening Premier League game after Erling Haaland’s 18th minute strike, which left Marc Cucurella regretting his Euro 2024 jibe.
Chelsea had a glorious chance to equalise before the break, with Jackson finding the back of the net, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.
He even squandered a huge chance – where he was later adjudged to be offside – where he dallied on the ball instead of going for goal.
And Mikel summed up Chelsea fans’ frustrations with Jackson whilst doing punditry for beIN Sports at half-time
“We’ve played OK, we haven’t played perfect, but we’ve played OK,” he said.
“We created chances, we haven’t taken them. And just an example of how Jackson finishes.
“You can see there, even though he was offside, he dribble [past[ one or two or three players and the way he shot the ball!”
With his arms outstretched, he continued: “You need a striker who knows how to hit a ball back in the back of the net and that’s what we don’t have.
“I know I talk so much about him and sometimes I sound like I disrespect him. I don’t disrespect him.
“I think at Chelsea Football Club we need a top striker who can get us a goal.
“A bit like [Haaland], 91 goals [for City] that’s absolutely unbelievable.”
