Breaking : FG Dissolves Nnamdi Azikiwe Uni Governing Council, Sacks VC , Registrar

As the controversy rages over the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor for Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka , the Federal Government through this statement has dissolved the Governing Council of the University and sacked the newly appointed VC and Registrar 

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES DISSOLUTION OF NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, AWKA  EXTERNAL GOVERNING COUNCIL 

The mandate of university councils is to compliment the smooth functioning of universities activities based on the extant acts in which they were set up. Unfortunately, it has come to the President and Ministry of Education’s attention that the Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s external governing council members have created an acrimonious relationship with the university’s  internal council members and the senate of the university. 

The Pro chancellor has gone to the extent of disregarding the extant act of the Nnamdi Azikiwe university including illegally appointing an unqualified Vice Chancellor with total disregard to due process and rule of law for such appointment. The President is determined and focused on improving the standards of education in the country and has therefore directed  the following: 

I. The dissolution of the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Anambra State, made up of the following members: 

Amb. Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe. – Pro-Chancellor

            Hon. Hafiz Oladejo.              –   Council Member

            Hon. Augustine Onyedebelu.        “

            Engr. Amioleran Osahon.              “

            Rtd. Gen. Funsho Oyeneyin.         “

II. The removal of Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, the Vice Chancellor illegally appointed by the Council of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Anambra State

III. The removal of Mrs Rosemary Ifoema Nowkike, the Registrar of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Anambra State.
