Barcelona Set To Make Fresh Bid For Eric Garcia Today

Spanish defender Eric Garcia joined Manchester City’s youth ranks from Barcelona back in 2017. And, towards the end of last season in particular, the 19-year-old began to cement himself as a regular in the club’s backline.

Garcia isn’t the most physically imposing central defender, but his intelligence and ability on the ball more than make up for that.

The youngster also appeared to be forming a promising partnership with Aymeric Laporte.

In a blow for Man City, though, they will soon be forced into parting ways with Garcia.

This comes with Pep Guardiola having confirmed last month that the stopper won’t be renewing his contract, which is set to run out next summer.

Barca to make fresh bid for Garcia

Since Pep’s comments Barcelona, Garcia’s former club, in turn, have been the outfit most heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old.

It was even claimed recently that the Blaugrana were set to table a bid of around €15m for the stopper.

However, with deadline day now upon us, Garcia is still currently on City’s books.

And with Ruben Dias now likely ahead of the Spaniard in City’s centre-back pecking order, you would imagine he would like to depart the club as soon a possible to ensure he receives enough game time to further his development.

Garcia’s hopes of returning to the Camp Nou do look to have been handed boost on Monday though.

Said boost comes in the form of an update from Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Barcelona will try once again to sign Garcia today.

The Spanish outfit are reportedly set to offer around €17/18m, though it is also believed that Barca need to move on Jean Clair Todibo before completing a deal:
