Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly abducted a man believed be a police officer serving in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday night, September 15 and it threw Toro town into confusion.
This comes a few hours after security agencies secured the release of 33 kidnap victims in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi.
According to sources, the armed men fired sporadic gunshots, scaring residents before abducting a yet-to-be identified Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP.
The activities of kidnappers has affected economic activities in Toro LGA as residents are afraid of going about their businesses for fear of being kidnapped.
Member representing Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, AIsmail Haruna Dabo, condemned the incident and called for calm.
He described the incident as unfortunate and regrettable considering the current economic situation in the country and assured the people of his continued legislative interventions to bring an end to the menace.
Bauchi State Police public relations officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, had yet to respond to phone calls as at press time.

The Ebonyi state police command rescued an inspector attached to the Police Detective College, Enugu and the village chair of Ngwogwo, Ishiagu, Ivo LGA, from kidnappers.
According to a statement by the Police PRO, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the officer and village chief were kidnapped on Sunday.
The spokesperson said both victims were rescued unhurt, and three of the suspected kidnappers have been arrested.
“Police operatives swung into action upon receipt of actionable intelligence report, and the hideout of the hoodlums situated between Amata Ishiagu in Ebonyi and Lokpanta in Abia was raided. The hoodlums opened fire on sighting the police operatives but were subdued by the superior firepower of the police.
“During the gun duel, one of the hoodlums was neutralised, while three of his gang members were arrested unharmed,” the statement said.
