Asset Declaration: CCT Orders Aruwan, Shizzer, Abdullahi To Step Aside

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has mandated three high-ranking officials from the Kaduna State Government—Honorable Samuel Aruwan Peter, Honorable Shizzer Nasara Bada, and Tijjani Mohammed Abdullahi—to step down due to allegations of false asset declarations.

Honorable Samuel Aruwan Peter serves as the acting Commissioner for Internal Security, Honorable Shizzer Nasara Bada is the Commissioner for Finance, and Tijjani Mohammed Abdullahi holds the position of Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

This decision, announced on October 22, 2024, comes in response to an ex parte application made by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), which cited breaches of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act (CAP C1 LFN 2004).

In a statement released by CCT spokesperson Veronica Kato, it was noted that the officials are to be suspended pending the hearing and resolution of a motion filed by the Bureau on October 21, 2024.

The CCB initiated an investigation into the officials after receiving a petition alleging various infractions.

“Following the investigation, the Bureau pursued their prosecution before the Tribunal,” Veronica explained.

Additionally, the Tribunal has recommended that the Governor and Secretary to the Kaduna Government appoint suitable replacements for the affected positions.

The accused individuals are set to appear before the Tribunal on November 7, 2024, to face the charges against them.
