After much delay, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has announced that Wednesday, September 6, is the date it will deliver judgement in the three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
The tribunal had on August 1, 2023, reserved judgment on the petitions filed by the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Mohammed Bangari confirmed the date on Monday.
According to him, everything has been put in place to ensure a hitch-free delivery of the judgment in the three petitions.
Bangari hinted that adequate security has been put in place and that only the invited members of political parties and the general public would be allowed into the courtroom to avoid congestion and security breaches.
Confirming the date, he said; “September 6 has been fixed for the tribunal judgement. We are working on a statement to that effect.”
Nigerians are keenly waiting to know the verdict that will be delivered by the five-man PEPT panel on Wednesday.

@_weyimi; The date for judgment for the PEPT is Wednesday, 6th of September, 2023. There will be restrictions on entry as it will be broadcasted live on television “to promote transparency and openness”
Suddenly they care for “transparency” When we asked them to broadcast the whole process live they said NO. If it smells like fish, then it is fish. The same position we maintained during the entire hearing, is the same position we will maintain during judgment.
@novieverest; The sequences are playing out. Justice Mary Odili watered the ground. DSS drops some tips. PEPT judges announce the date. They want to coward Nigerians into a shell. We don’t want technicalities. Rule based on merit. That’s all we ask for.
@General_Oluchi; Judgment date go soon drop! When it happens, get some food, some water, withdraw some cash from the bank and wait. Ensure that your VPN apps are ready. This PEPT judgment is going to be the most important event in Africa and it can yield any outcome. Most importantly, stay prepared when it does.
