Davita Lamai, the baby mama of popular rapper, Zlatan Ibile has stood up in defense of her son after he was criticised for screaming after seeing some area boys.
A video which went viral days ago captured the moment Zlatan and his son were driving around Lagos when some streets boys approached him with hailings and begged for money.
The little kid screamed in fear to his father saying, “there’s too many bad boys.” This triggered netizens who called out the artiste for not reprimanding his son for referring to less privileged people as bad boys.
Reacting to the backlash, Davita slammed those who have been criticising her family and pointed out that her son was the most friendly and compassionate person she knows.
She said if people are so compassionate towards area boys, they can allow their own children to come down and greet area boys anytime they were in traffic.
According to the mother of one, the boy used to embrace everyone he comes across, so she had to instil fear in him to keep him from harm.
She wrote; “When it’s your own child please allow them to get down from the car in that traffic and greet those boys one by one! Same boys that will mount your car, damage your car and bang on the windows if you give them chance. As you give 1 money the rest will come and violently harass you.
Even me as an adult if I’m driving alone and those boys crowd my car in traffic and start looking through the window I am scared. What exactly is the teachable moment there? SMH
My son is the most compassionate and caring and friendly boy ever to the point that when we finally permanently moved to lagos I’m the one that had to make him scared of people because he will follow anyone and everyone.
That’s the reason why he’s scared now because I had to put that fear in him to protect him until he’s old enough to know for himself who is good and who is bad. Till then everyone is a stranger and BAD unless mummy or daddy say otherwise. Please it’s not about being compassionate towards those less fortunate it’s about safety in a country we all know is extremely insecure!”
