Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence in Chelsea’s prospects under Mauricio Pochettino, citing their substantial investment as a key factor in Premier League success. Arsenal is set to host their London rivals at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, aiming to extend their lead over Manchester City to four points at the top of the Premier League table.
Despite Chelsea’s current lack of silverware and their ninth-place position in the league, having suffered 10 defeats this season, Arteta believes they will eventually thrive. Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their takeover in May 2022, Chelsea have invested over £1 billion ($1.23bn). When asked about Chelsea’s future success, Arteta stated:
“I am convinced they will. With that squad, yes, and with the manager they have. If you look at the history of the Premier League in the last 20 years, there’s a strong correlation between spending and success, depending on how you interpret it.”
“I think Mauricio’s work is highly impressive, and I’m confident he’ll lead them to success.”
