Enzo Fernandez has openly admitted to negatively impacting Chelsea’s performance by playing through injury this season and has commended Mauricio Pochettino for instilling order and cohesion within the team.
The Argentine World Cup winner has been dealing with a hernia issue, necessitating pain-relieving injections for a significant portion of the campaign. He is now sidelined for the remainder of the season following surgery last month.
Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in a £106.8 million deal just over a year ago, attributes Pochettino’s influence to the team’s improved dynamics.
“After enduring eight months of playing through pain and injections, I realized surgery was the best option. Continuing to play would have only hindered the team,” Fernandez explained. “But now, my recovery is progressing well, and I’m eagerly anticipating the Copa America.”
Expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament, Fernandez looks forward to representing his country and participating in his first Copa America.
