HAPPENING NOW!!! Senate Confirms Bianca Ojukwu As Minister—During the plenary session on October 30, the Nigerian Senate screened and confirmed Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafran warlord Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Nominated among seven individuals by President Bola Tinubu after his cabinet reshuffle, Bianca Ojukwu is the sixth child of former Anambra governor Christian Onoh and a woman of notable achievements.

She began her tertiary education pursuing a combined honors degree in Politics, Economics, and Law at the University of Buckingham but later transferred to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to focus on Law. She is also a former beauty queen who represented Nigeria at various international pageants.

After presenting her qualifications and goals for the position to the upper chamber, Bianca received praise from two Senators, Victor Umeh and Nwoye Tony, from Anambra, her home state. Senator Victor Umeh, representing Central Senatorial District in Anambra, remarked, “Nobody can fault her qualifications to serve in this capacity for our country.”

Adding that she is “very intelligent and very beautiful,” Umeh’s comment elicited a response from Senate President Godwin Akpabio, who urged him to focus on her qualifications. Umeh also noted that her nomination was both significant and “heroic.”

Other senators who praised her included Tony Nwoye and Enyinnaya Abaribe, who noted that her appointment had initiated steps toward national integration.

The only question posed to Bianca was by Senate President Akpabio, who asked if she would focus on the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s embassies, many of which are in depleted conditions. Bianca responded by detailing how she helped rehabilitate the Nigerian embassy in Spain during her tenure as Nigeria’s ambassador to the country. She affirmed her commitment to reassessing and maintaining Nigerian embassy buildings worldwide.

Following her responses, the Senate confirmed her appointment.
