BREAKING: Popular Nigerian Governor Set To Pay N1m As New Minimum Wage—Nigerian governor set to pay N1m as minimum wage

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago has announced plans to implement a N1 million minimum wage for state civil servants, citing agriculture as a key driver.

Speaking at the Government House in Minna, Bago expressed confidence that the state’s agricultural efforts could support this ambitious goal.

The announcement followed a meeting with the leadership of the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The governor has approved the implementation of an N80,000 minimum wage for civil servants, set to begin in November.

He also revealed that the state is developing civil service farms to boost productivity among workers.

“This is very sustainable. N80,000 is sustainable. We are sure that with our stride in agriculture I am sure we can pay. We are creating civil service farm so that civil servants can be productive. With that, we are sure that we can do both N1 million as minimum wage,” Bago said.
