Police Seek Court Order to Detain Bobrisky

Authorities at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon, Lagos State, appear to have obtained a court order to keep the controversial cross-dresser, Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, in custody as investigations continue.

Bobrisky was apprehended on Monday by officials from the Nigeria Immigration Service at the Seme border in Badagry while allegedly attempting to flee the country. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the FCID Annex in Alagbon.

According to a senior police official, the police have filed a request with the court to secure a detention order for Bobrisky. “We have approached the court to obtain an order to hold Bobrisky until the investigation is concluded or we receive further instructions from higher authorities,” said the source, who wished to remain anonymous.

Daily Trust previously reported that Bobrisky was caught at the Seme border while trying to leave the country. After his arrest, he was initially taken to the office of the Controller of Immigration at the Seme Area Command, where he remained until Tuesday, when he was escorted to Alagbon under armed guard.

His arrival at the FCID sparked some drama, as police officers went to visit him in the office where he was held before he was brought before the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) overseeing the FCID. Detectives conducted a brief interrogation upon his arrival.
