Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) explains why Jesus and His apostles did not collect tithe.
During the October edition of the RCCG Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye responded to a sermon he watched, where one of his pastors argued against tithing.
Adeboye dismissed this reasoning, noting that Jesus was not a parish pastor, but a world evangelist.
“Forgive me for saying so, but it was a very shallow sermon,” Adeboye remarked.
He explained that Jesus’ ministry was supported by certain women, including Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna, as recorded in Luke 8:1-3, indicating that Jesus Christ’s financial support came from other sources rather than traditional tithes.
Adeboye’s comments aim to clarify misconceptions about tithing in the context of Jesus’ ministry while underscoring the different roles and responsibilities between local pastors and global evangelists like Jesus.
