“You Don’t Own Amen Estate”- Lawyers Refute Gbadamosi’s Claims on Redbrick Homes

Babalakin & Co, the legal representatives of Redbrick Homes International Ltd, Amen City Ltd, Ashlead Estates Ltd, and Ms. Folasade Balogun, have issued a strong rebuttal to claims made by politician and former director, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi, about the ownership of Amen Estate and other properties.

In a social media post, Gbadamosi alleged that Amen Estate and Amen Estate Phase 2 in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, were not only assets of Redbrick Homes and Ashlead but also belonged to him. However, in a statement dated September 19, 2024, the lawyers firmly refuted this claim, stating, “Babatunde Gbadamosi voluntarily relinquished his entire shareholding interest in Redbricks and Ashlead and resigned his directorship in these companies as far back as July 2021 under a notarized legal instrument.”

The law firm supported their position by publishing Gbadamosi’s letter of voluntary resignation dated July 1, 2021, and clarified that his directorship resignations and shareholding transfers had been filed at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and were available for public verification.

The lawyers emphasized the baseless nature of Gbadamosi’s claims, noting, “He has no interest whatsoever in either the above companies or any of their assets that he listed, namely Amen Estate, Amen Estate 2, TIARA, Emerald Bay, Emerald Park, and Amen City.”

In response to the claims, the statement urged the public to disregard the politician’s assertions. It further added, “None of these assets is listed as ‘marital assets’ that are the subject of litigation between Babatunde Gbadamosi and Ms. Sade Balogun.”

A previous public notice, issued by Redbrick Homes on February 26, 2022, had also refuted similar claims circulating at the time. In that notice, the management clarified, “For the avoidance of doubt, once upon a time, Mr. Gbadamosi, a full-time politician, was a sleeping partner/shareholder without any financial investment and one of the Directors of Redbrick Homes International Ltd. However, he has since voluntarily transferred, for consideration, the entirety of his shares in Redbrick Homes Intl Ltd and resigned from its Board as of July 1, 2021.”

The law firm reiterated that Redbrick Homes continues to operate under the leadership of Ms. Folasade Balogun, who has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since the company’s inception. They concluded by affirming that “The Board composition, shareholding structure, and share capital of Redbrick Homes International Ltd have completely changed since Mr. Gbadamosi’s departure.”

The statement closed by advising the public to verify these facts at the CAC and to ignore any misleading information propagated by Gbadamosi.
