Nollywood star, Destiny Etiko has taken to social media to express concern over the misplaced priorities of Nigerians despite the worsening hardship and insecurity in the nation.
The actress wondered how people can be happy after the return of Big Brother Naija when the entire country is in economic crisis.
According to her, maybe people still have money to purchase data to watch and participate in the show, that’s why they do not seem bothered enough to complain.
Destiny Etiko, however, said that though she may not be badly affected, her worry is however for the hungry masses. She pointed out that crime is the order of the day yet people have remained calm about it.
She wrote; “E don red for our country and I still Dey see some people Dey happy about BBN Hmmmmm nawa o Oh una still get enough money for DATA Abi. If u guys do not complain Den who am I to do so.
Am majorly concerned about the poor masses though That you can survive does not mean that everyone can o crime is now happening everywhere Insecurity has become the order of the day and everyone is literally calm THE EARLIER THE BETTER”
Meanwhile, CorrectNG recalls that a former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Delta, Chief Sunny Onuesoke once urged the Federal Government to ban Big Brother Naija.
He appealed to religious leaders, including Muslim and Christian clerics to add their voices to the call for ban of the programme on Nigeria televisions.
He said; “BBNaija is an exhibition of recklessness. We are encouraging it so badly that we allow it to be displayed openly on television. It is an invitation to chaos and exhibition of nudity.
“We now idolize idleness and immorality. What do we gain from open vulgarity, open nudity, the spread of shamelessness? For me BBNaija is an abomination.
“It’s not a talent show because it does not promote real development in any sense of the word. It is just a show in which some adults gathered in an enclosed place and allowed to do whatever entered their heads.”
