Snoop Dogg to carry Olympic torch in last lap of opening ceremony

American Hip Hop icon, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, professionally known as Snoop Dogg will be carrying the Olympic flame in the final stretch ahead of the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics ceremony.

The opening ceremony will take place in Paris, France on Friday, 26th of July 2024, with over 10,000 athletes on boats on the Seine River.

Mayor of Saint-Denis, Mathieu Hanotin confirmed Snop Dogg’s role in the event, noting that it is the last step before the famous Eiffel Tower.

He wrote on Twitter; “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame.”

According to the event brochure, other carriers of the torch include French rapper, MC Solaar and French actress, Laetitia Casta.

On his part, the rapper also reposted reports of him carrying the flame via Twitter and captioned; “U ready? 🥇 Paris 2024 Olympics ya digggg 👊🏿🔥”, adding; “U gots to do it!! 👊🏿🇺🇸🔥🔥🏃🏿🥇🇫🇷 Will u be watchin?? #FollowTheDogg #ParisOlympics”.
